WHAT I USE

Hi all,

So before the video's start I wanted to take the opportunity to share the type of make-up I want to use.
Basically, I wanted to make sure that the products are first of all was affordable, not cheap and secondly easy to get my hands on; I live in South Hedland which is in the North West WA (i.e desert).

I tried a few chemist brands but most of them did not have the intensity or just wouldn't last all day like I need.
So finally I bit the bullet and tried the BYS brand (also the name of the store) and found they were great! Thus in the video my first choice will be the BYS brand. But please you use the products of your own choice, mine are just a suggestion.

Keep an eye out for the stands like these in your local stores, or the store it self.

Buy a variety of eye shadows and don't be afraid to try new color's that are not your normal choice this will make for some interesting designs later.

While your there buy yourself a pair of eyelashes for added dramatic effect, most times we won't use them but there will be the occasion where we will use them to add some drama.

K.I.S.S

Ok, so after a holiday with my husband I'm back! and keen to dive into this blog.

Over my holiday I travelled to Adelaide to attend a good friends wedding, but while I was away I took the opportunity to call into the MAC store in the mall. I watched as the MAC lady worked steadily on a middle aged woman with various techniques for make-up application, it was then my brilliant husband piped up and said, "She look's painted over!" How true! He was so right, while the techniques are improving...some woman look like there is just to much!

The first principle I learnt during my younger days was to KEEP IT SIMPLE SEXY!
For us beauties with darker skin tones, packing make-up on will look more like pasted on unless we tone it down.

Remember beauty is on skin deep, and its better to let our sexy persoonalities shine.

Someone once said, "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."

Ok so what ever your aplication techique is keep it simple and remember the make-up is not beautiful you are :)

Just Need A Little Inspiration

Wow it's been so long between post but finally a new one!
So, I've been thinking I need a little inspiration. So I've searched for a few pic's to encourage us to explore the use of extra colour in our makeup wearing.

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union is super elegant with her everyday look, but there is still a lot of work gone into to her makeup, so this should remind us that even a clean cut makeup still requires technique and colour for effect and flawless looking skin.

Here's a great example of perfect makeup evening or formal wear with Gabrielle is a actress that I often check out in terms of makeup. Most times she has the clean sultry smokey eye, but every now and then she throws on a burgundy red lipstick and peachy shimmer eye shadow and comes up with a dramatic but soft look.

Ok so here's one that is more dramatic but I love this look. This is a pic i got from a magazine so I don't know who this is but if you do post it in the comments box, I'd be happy to find if she has more photo's like this.
Ok so this is why I wanted to create a post like this! look at those colours, great combination and blending and her lips are supper dramatic with its high shine gloss.
See us darker skin tone complexions can wear colour!

I hope this blog has inspired you to go that one step further with adding extra colour.
Cheers my friends.

Different Types of Eyeshadow

Ok So this maybe a suprise for you to know that there are three different types of eyeshadows that you can buy and really it's a personal preferance a to which you use.

So the most obvious is the make pallett, this is compressed mica powder's. Pressed mica is the most popular choice because of the wide range of pallett choice but mostly because of the hundred of colours choices and variety designer or no name suppliers.
(This my pallet that I bouht from ebay)
Than there is a cream eyeshadow that can be good to use and a base, but try them first coz you won't want to look like the JOKER from Batman at the end of the day/ night.
Sticks are so easy and again come in a wide variety of colours that can be matte, shimmery and or glittery- I like glitter!

(IDO pencils)

Go crazy and than try a creme from the tube for a more translucent or veil (extreamly thin base) to work with.

(Elizabeth Ardens Shimmer Creme)

(Revelon Creme pallet)  Or my fav only coz I can
carry them with me is the cream pallet.

But the best play with and most effective to blend with for some of the most amazing eye shadow looks for every season!

(Medusa pressed pots)

(Dust by Sleek- I LOVE!)

So know you got the low down on all that is eyeshadow, get creative and see what you can do.

oh the Pic below is from make and beauty blog, check her out too coz she's amazing!

Thy Clean Face:

No matter how little time you have in the morning or how tired you are in the evening NEVER forget to cleanse your face. Your skin becomes very dirty and oily during the day, due to the environmental pollutions like smoke, dust, greasy makeup and so on.
As you start to wear more makeup the more you need to take good care of your skin, this will help slow down the aging process and keep your skin in good condition. So, make using a facial cleansers part of our basic skin-care routine.

THE BENEFITS OF APPLYING FACIAL CLEANSERS ARE:
  • Facial cleansers cleanse your skin in deep
  • Facial cleansers wash of makeup, dirt and surface oils
  • Facial cleansers leave your skin tight and clean
  • Facial cleansers remove all the impurities
  • Facial cleansers cleanse the skin without robbing it of moisture
  • Facial cleansers don’t irritate your skin
  • Facial cleansers allow penetration of active ingredients your apply afterwards
  • Facial cleansers keep your pore clean and clear
  • Facial cleansers treat acne
  • Facial cleansers leave your skin soft and supple
  • Facial cleansers moisturize your face
  • Facial cleanser help prevent blemishes
HOW TO APPLY A FACIAL CLEANSER PROPERLY:
Once you have found a cleanser that works best for your skin start using it in the morning and especially at night to remove all the impurities, oils and makeup that your face has collected during the day.
Step 1
Splash your face with warm water and it’s a good idea to make sure your hands are clean.

Step 2
Squeeze a small amount of your cleanser into your palms or wash cloth.

Step 3
Apply the cleanser to your face using a circular motion. Make sure you cover all the areas forehead, chin, nose, cheeks and neck, massage your face for about a minute this allow the cleaner to penetrate the skin getting rid of all oil and dirt.

Step 4
Rinse thoroughly the cleaner with lukewarm water but make sure that you have removed all traces of the cleanser. At the end rinse your face with cold water to shrink the enlarged pores and to improve blood circulation.

Step 5
Dry your face with a facial towel.

Step 6
Once you have cleansed your face you should use a tone on your skin. Toners remove the traces of makeup, dirt and oil that your cleanser may have missed, it also reduce pores, eliminate oil and refine the skin. Reducing your pores means that it is harder for oil and dirt to form pimple and this means you stay looking deadly!

Step 7
Always end your routine by apply a facial moisturizer after cleansing your face. A moisturizer should always be applied to a clean and toned face. Take a small amount and apply it to your face, avoiding eyes area (keep at least an inch away from the eyes to avoid irritation).

This is good skin practice which means a more glowing and healthy face.
Cheers Chicks :)
